Trip Overview

The Chisapani to Nagarkot Hill Hiking route is  popular in  Nepal that combines stunning natural beauty with cultural richness.  The hiking  takes you through lush forests, charming villages and terraced fields offering a unique glimpse into the rural lifestyle of Nepal.The hiking begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, which is the starting point of the hike. From Sundarijal,  ascend through the Shivapuri National Park, which is known for its diverse flora and fauna. The path winds through dense forests of oak and rhododendron, occasionally opening up to reveal stunning waterfalls and streams. The first day’s hike ends at Chisapani, a quaint village perched at an altitude of 2,135 meters.

The second day of the hike  is a journey from Chisapani to Nagarkot, taking about six to seven hours. This section of the hike is characterized by scenic trails that pass through terraced fields and traditional Tamang and Sherpa villages. Nagarkot, situated at 2,175 meters, is one of the best viewpoints in the region. It is especially famous for its sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas, including glimpses of Mount Everest on clear days.

The final day  involves either a hike or a drive back to Kathmandu. If opting to hike, follow the trail to Changunarayan, a historic temple and UNESCO World Heritage Site. This part of the hike takes about three to four hours and offers additional cultural insights and scenic views. Alternatively, a direct drive from Nagarkot to Kathmandu can be arranged, with a stop at Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Bhaktapur, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and vibrant culture, provides a perfect conclusion to the hiking  adventure.
